has been instructed to suggest that evacuees should telegraph to their relatives here with a view to allaying anxiety. It is understood that owing to pressure on the Communications Department of the Foreign Office it is at present impossible to forward enquiries from private individuals to His Majesty's Consuls, but I am to suggest that, should you wish to enquire further regarding your daughter and her children's whereabouts you should address a "reply prepaid "telegram to His Majesty's Consul-General at Manila.

4. If you will forward your

daughter's name to this Department a further communication will be addressed to you after the receipt here of the lists of persons evacuated, to which reference is made above.
